Dr Edwards is a clinical psychologist, specialising in paediatric psychology. During the 21 years she worked at Great Ormond street Hospital she developed and led the clinical psychology provision for children with hearing losses including those with cochlear implants. she also led the team of clinical psychologists working across a variety of paediatric specialties including cleft lip and palate, craniofacial disorders, ENT, maxillo-facial disorders, orthopaedics and spinal surgery, plastics and dental surgery. 

Dr Edwards specialises in assessing the cognitive abilities of children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties in their learning and/or speech and language development, often in the context of broader communication difficulties and physical disabilities. This may be the result of temporary or permanent hearing loss, speech and language disorders, auditory processing disorder or a range of medical conditions and syndromes. 

Dr Edwards conducts psychometric assessments for children aged 3 to 18 years, including the assessment of non-verbal cognitive abilities, and the cognitive abilities of children with limited or no spoken language skills. she also assesses children's behavioural and emotional strengths and difficulties, and how these are impacting on learning and progress in school.
