Welcome to GOSH!

Welcome to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH). GOSH is a globally renowned children’s hospital, championing innovation and providing ground-breaking treatments for the rarest and most complex conditions.

We want you and your family to feel as comfortable as possible while you are with us. We understand that you may be feeling stressed or anxious about your trip to the hospital, so we’ve put together all the important information about your stay in one place to make it a bit easier.

At GOSH, we practice a model of care that involves the whole family, ensuring a collaborative approach to care-giving and decision-making. We do this by listening to you and respecting the knowledge, skills and experience you bring as a parent/carer. Family-centred care has multiple benefits for you, your child and the clinical team. It ensures you understand about your child’s care, it reduces delays in treatment and gives you the opportunity to discuss treatment with your clinical teams.

Your child will be placed on the most appropriate ward for their clinical needs - you can find out more information about our wards on our Your Ward and Outpatients’ section. We want you to feel welcome when you stay with us and have a range of support services and facilities for your child and the whole family. I encourage you to read the sections on 'Our Facilities' and 'Support Services' to learn more.

If you have any questions before you arrive, we encourage you to contact us. If you have any questions while at the hospital please speak to our friendly ward staff or ask to speak to one of our Ward Managers, who will be able to help you.

At the end of your stay we encourage you to fill in our Family and Friends Test, to help us improve our service. You can also nominate a member of your child's nursing team for a special DAISY Award - find out more here.
