Celebrating our Ward Stars!
At the International and Private Care directorate, we have outstanding and professional staff members who give their best every day. To acknowledge the exemplary work they do, we launched a quarterly staff recognition award back in June 2024 focusing on the Caterpillar, Butterfly, Bumblebee, and Hedgehog wards. The award sees winners being chosen in March, June, September, and December.
This initiative celebrates the outstanding efforts and contributions of our colleagues, honouring their dedication to their roles. It also highlights the importance of teamwork, recognising the collective efforts to all staff members who work together to achieve success.
Meet this quarter’s winners:
Butterfly Ward: Tatiana Corria
Tatiana is a staff nurse stationed on the Butterfly Ward. She is a truly hardworking nurse, who takes the time to explain care processes to patients in a great manner and in detail. She is also a self-starter who offers support to other nurses even without prompting.
She always does her job well and consistently shows a good attitude. She also goes above and beyond for her patients daily, perfectly embodying GOSH values.
"Tatiana’s selection reflects her team spirit that makes her a joy to work with. And when it comes to palliative care, Tatiana handles any situation that arises responsibly and in a mature way. She takes initiative and is able to communicate with different members of the healthcare team in an effective and detailed manner"
Bumblebee Ward: Kathleen Daingui
Kathleen is a Staff Nurse who is stationed on the Bumblebee Ward. She goes above and beyond for all the patients on the ward. She is a lovely and caring nurse who is always amazing. In one instance, Kathleen took a patient out to the park and made their day!
‘’She exerts extra efforts to accommodate the wellbeing of patients in a number of ways. She not only maximises patients’ quality of life but also ensures that she infuses some measure of joy into their stay’’
Caterpillar Ward: Emma Collins
Emma is a junior sister stationed on the Caterpillar Ward. She is always very helpful to her superiors and colleagues alike. She takes initiative and offers help at every turn. She is kind to the patients and their families and shows outstanding dedication in everything she does. Emma stands as a daily excellent representation of the 'one team' value at GOSH. With her around, the work day is always something to look forward to.

Hedgehog Ward: Adeola Sami
Adeola is a health care assistant stationed on the Hedgehog Ward. She is an amazing colleague who is always proactive and very friendly. These qualities have enabled her to develop good relationships with all her colleagues, patients, and patient families.
‘’Adeola is always helpful and goes the extra mile in supporting the team. Her can-do attitude is present in everything she does.’’
And our all New non-clinical star: Mahima Ahmed
Mahima's calm professionalism and collaborative approach have helped strengthen relationships and collaboration across specialties. This is especially evident during the adoption of new processes in which the information concerning theatres is disseminated. Her impact has been clear — smoother coordination and stronger consultant engagement. Her ability to build strong relationships and adapt to new processes has made a real difference.
