Mr Kunal Patel
Overview
Mr Kunal Patel is a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at Great Ormond Street Hospital and a GDC registered Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry. He accepts referrals for the management of caries in medically compromised children, traumatic dental injuries, dental anomalies, and dental treatment under local anaesthetic, sedation and general anaesthetic.
His area of dental expertise includes assessing and treating patients undergoing bone marrow transplants, high dose chemotherapy and cardiac transplants. He also leads the paediatric dental service for patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa, Craniofacial, and Cleft Lip and Palate.
Mr Patel has published papers in peer reviewed journals and regularly presents nationally and internationally on subjects relating to paediatric dentistry.
He is an active member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry and the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, where he previously held a position on the Southeast branch committee.
Mr Patel is currently enrolled in an Executive Master’s in Medical Leadership focusing in on people, innovation and change in healthcare. He is a clinical and educational supervisor to trainees within his service.
